Mission

The Student Forum is an organization dedicated to newswriting for students. Our team of passionate writers aims to provide the latest and most relevant news to the student community. We are committed to delivering high-quality journalism that highlights the unique experiences and perspectives of students. Our goal is to stand out by offering a platform for student voices and fostering a sense of community through our news stories.

The Forum's Pledge

Terms 

  • No harmful language: This includes slurs and derogatory terms

    • This applies to using derogatory language in a way that is meant to harm a person, place, community, etc. It cannot be used to attack another (without evidence), or to be used maliciously. 

  • No use of AI 

    • Must be your own work. This website is for users who want to express themselves creatively. If you use AI, you may be subject to banning. 

    • To submit work, it is your own choice. We believe in integrity, and using AI goes against The Forum’s integrity. 

  • Facts must be true and proven

    • Must include links to where information/facts were found, as well as proper credit.

    • If you are stating an opinion as a fact, you must explain why/how that may or may not be true. 

    • Both facts and opinions must have evidence. Your work will be fact-checked through the sources you provide, and if something isn't adding up, you may be contacted, or your work will not be published.  

  • Must be in the realm of politics, community, or culture/society. 

    • May talk about trends, people, pop culture, if it is connected to politics, political issues, and economics. 

  • 24 years or younger and a resident in California

Guidelines

  • Must be a creative work.

    • If an art piece, it must have your initials to prove it is yours

    • Must be your own work. 

    • It can be an article, poem, painting, essay, drawing, video, reel, sculpture, etc. Be creative!

    • AI cannot be detected.

  • For any writing it must:

    • Must be in: 12pt, Times New Roman font, Headline/Title in bold (Ex. The Grey Fox Jumps Over the Brown Fence by Leela Davis - this format for title/headline), on a separate page from the document, must include sources (can be MLA format)

    • Essay: 650 word limit, no AI, provide another page with sources
